I like the textures. Also the blue/gold contrast is nice. It's just me but I would like to see more of the posts and shadows as they look interesting. Maybe a dog or seagull to add interest but certainly not a child because a child would dominate the picture. Just my .02.
I do not think this would be seen as a major "entrance" without the title. I understand what you were shooting for. Perhaps a couple of children running to the water would have been helpful.
not enough resolution in this photo to rate highly. composition weak, little to hold the eye. too little contrast in the photo- too monochromatic. watch how your eye wanders around the photo to search for something there. Nothing much found in this photo a frustrating experience. not enjoyable as you suggest!
