White out on a bird-watching trip this weekend with a friend I spotted these two Sandhill Cranes grazing in a field on the side of the highway. Lucky for me I was able to borrow a my friend’s EOS 20D camera and EF 500mm f/4L IS USM lens with a 1.4x teleconverter attached to make this shot. It would have been pretty difficult with my little 80-200mm lens LOL.

What a wonderful find. Good eye to see this and do a nice job of getting the photo. Interesting to look at as this pair is just different enough to keep the viewer entertained. Nice job with the DOF to eliminate the background. Good luck in the challenge.
Good rule of third horizontally. I think you should have cropped the picture so the birds had more room to look to the left - this way it feels too crowded. Beautiful muted colors in the background - it was a nice choice to have a shollow depth of field.
