Nice interesting idea. A couple things. I don't think this is a focus issue as much as it is a camera shake issue. While I like the idea, I think perfectly symmetry would have worked better. For instance, you can see the nose on the shadow, but not in the model. Still a nice idea.
Removing the wrinkles in the backdrop would have helped immensely in this instance. As it stands, the image would seem to suggest that you paid scant attention to details.
