Well. . . .this is certainly not my most technically sound photo. . .but. . .I was thinking about a totally different idea and song title when I passed this little 2-1/2 month old baby and its mom interacting with each other so sweetly. It was magical! And I was way late getting back to work because I watched them so long. I hate it that the only time I could go was in the blazing Texas midday sun because the quality is not what I wish it was, but hopefully the magic of the moment will compensate at least a little bit for it not being technically perfect

I am so happy! This is the biggest surprise ever!!!! I was really afraid this might get killed! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
This is one of my outtakes for this challenge. I struggled with which one to use because I thought it was technically better, but it didn't show the emotion of this one. I think I made the right decision :)

Sandy, this is outstanding- i did not see the challenge but I am drawn to the image and technically I am ignorant, but your ability to capture such emotion and sensitivity is awesome...
Beautiful picture Sandy. OMG look how much they resamble humans. You can see from the mothers expression how much she loves her youngster :o) One of the best animal pictures I have ever seen. Congrats on a well deserved ribbon :o)
Congrats Sandy!! This is an amazingly beautiful photograph. I'm glad you chose this. The emotion and tender pose is stunning. I know what ya mean by the TX sun (especially this time of year) and I think the lighting actually worked very well. Another well deserved ribbon!

I've been looking at this photo on the front page since the 'winners' were announced but just clicked on it today. For the life of me, I don't understand why it did not win the blue - it is a totally superior photo and draws much more emotion. Congrats on the red but it's blue to me.
great shot. emotion and feeling always should always always beat technicality. who cares how nice and clean something looks if it doesn't say anything?
I am so in love with how this picture makes me feel.
I couldnt help but link it to some friends to check out during the challenge...The edit creates such tenderness.. its soft yet beautifully focused.. Luvs it.
Sandy! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you for this wonderful entry - really, really spectacular. You are such a star at capturing this type of tender moment with animals. I would've never been able to choose which of the two shots to enter, but I'm sure the other one had just as good a chance to win a ribbon as this one. I like them both equally as much, for different reasons. This one breaks my heart it's so sweet. Yay for you - again!!
You absolutely chose the right one. The outtake is a very nice shot of monkeys. The entry is a dead-on-subject, very emotive, very nice picture of a special moment between two monkeys.
Beautifu and so emotional! I've always loved how those little monkeys look like really old men :D I thought I commented on this one though... But congrats on the ribbon and thank you so much for your comment! It was my first submission, so I didn't really know what to expect. Am happy though!
Sandy, this is absolutely precious!!!!!! Beautiful photo, too!!! I love the DOF. The photo is so soft, it looks like a painting. Awesome! Congrats on the ribbon!!
Wow!! Congrats on a hard earned ribbon!!! Your husband must be very proud!
As a reward he should take you to the Rocky Mountains and buy you lots of lenses and stuff.
Sandy, Congratulations!!! This definitely deserved to ribbon. What a wonderfully touching moment you captured! It's somewhat unnerving how human they appear, isn't it? Well done!
Just so beautiful. Conveys the dimension of caring, affection, tendeness that some, anthropocentically, fail to notice or others dismiss as anthropomorphism. Great picture-10!
One of the memorable shots of this challenge. You got a 9 from me. The composition is perfectly lovely. It's hard when one gets all the aspects right and the technical detail eludes, isn't it. Been there many a time.... Well done.
Awesome Sandy, a ribbon, well done! I am in Fiji at the moment on a very slow internet connection, so I'll comment better when I get home...but very proud of your effort here, well done
I really like this shot and the actions and expressions are great. I am not sure what editing has been done, but the shot has a sketch/painted like effect and I am not sure if that is a good thing or not. Personally I like it =9
unbeleivably excellent catch!!! WOW.. Despite the fact that I submitted a photo, If I was to choose between my photo getting the ribbon or this.. I'll choose this.. 10 with no daubt..
Absolutely gorgeous! You have captured such a beautifully intimate and gentle moment.
It does look rather like a painting, 'though - I am unsure if that is because it is a photo of a painting (I would be inordinately disappointed), because you used an 'art' type filter in PS, or (as I am hoping) because of some trick of the light - I very much look forward to reading your decription after voting ends.
*Great* lighting, fantastic expressions, creamy background and some post-processing that enhances the dreamy quality of the image. Almost impossible combination when working with animals. Straight 10!
I can't get tired of looking at this image.
The lighting is perfect and their expressions and gestures, priceless...
Congratulations on this outstanding work of yours!!!
Very sweet image! The expressions on both of the monkeys faces is awsome. I can just feel the love between them the way the baby is looking at his mom with that sweet little hand on her mouth and the way the mom's head is bent down towards her baby with her eyes closed.I LOVE it!!! Subject mater, composition, lighting, wow factor are all perfect. Great capture!
