We came across a herd of elephant who had been upset by something and came crashing through the undergrowth all around our vehicle. This little chap caught wind of us and despite his young age was quite prepared to stand up for himself. Elephants have very poor eyesight but incredible scenting ability and use their trunks to detect unusual smells. I was lucky to get this shot looking staight down his nostrils!

cropping this awkwardly, you should have gone all the way and taken off more of left and right, maybe a little off the top. focus is good, color balance good.
Looks like you were up close and personal with this beasty. I get the feeling that I'm either seeing too much of the elephant in this shot, or not enough (tighter crop.) You've left me wanting more.
