These amazing Water Dragon lizards, roam freely all around the complex at the Castledine Nursery.
One can also see them in on the edge of the huge water pond, and they also visit you at their restaurant, as they scamper around your feet while dining.....
They would be at least 18 inches, and even up to 24 inches, with there tail in length.
Wow, what a cool critter. He looks sorta large, but its difficult to judge from that shot. Lizards in my part of the world a are fairly small...4 or 5 inches head to tail, that one looks much larger.
You know how much I love the reptiles!! Great job keeping the detail in the scales. I know how tough that can be with me photographing my snakes all the time. What a funky color he is..I am used to seeing green water dragons all the time...he blends into that rock quite well.
Crazy little critter! Does he change colour? The blending into the rocks is great. You've got good sharpness and detail across his body, too.
If it were a challenge shot then the one nitpick would be the cropping of the end of the tail, otherwise I think you'd be looking at a good 8 or more from me in a free study, especially with the arrangement of colours.
Wow, that would totally freak me out to have one crawling around my feet. But the desire to photograph it would surely let me overcome those fears. I love the monchromatic look of this. Would have been cool for the brown challenge. I also like that he seems to be staring right at you.
