Beautiful field of wildflowers in eastern Tennessee, taken in early fall. This is my homage to the impressionist artist, Claude Oscar Monet, 1840-1926. He was brilliant in his art! Although my entry does not touch the surface of doing him any justice at all, I saw this scene and immediately thought of his work, which is one of my inspirations in photography, using this particular perspective and DOF on many of my photos...

I love the background, but it seems that the flowers could have been placed a bit better within the frame. It almost feels like you were holding the camera with one hand and the flowers with the other. Maybe if there were more cropped off the left, or if the flowers were at a steeper angle to the corner of the shot, it would feel a bit more natural.
The flower in the foreground is a bit harsh. One way to adjust that is to hold a white sheet of paper over the subject (and out of the camera view) which will soften the light.
I think this idea is great with the background out of focus to create a nice wash of color. I can't quite pinpoint it, but something about the colors seems a bit off. I'm wondering if the in-camera white balance got tricked by shadows or shade from a passing cloud. I wonder if this shot might look great with selective desaturation.
Love the background however I think a your foreground subject is letting this image down. What might work better is to not have so much of it in the frame and increase the DOF ever so slightly to create more definition in the background.
