This was taken during a trip to the States to see some of the west coast National Parks in September.
I am happy with the textures in this image, the sand grain in the foreground, the smooth dunes in the mid distance and then the rough mountains in the background.
This image seemed to work best in Black and White to bring those textures out.

beautiful image. i can't help but wondering, though, what you would have come up with if you had put the camera on a tripod or monopod and held it high above your head, but angled down just a bit. it seems like those deeper shadows could be very interesting from a different perspective...
I love the leading lines and details in the foreground sand on this one. Maybe a touch more contrast, but that's probably a matter of taste. Very nice.
What a stunning place this is and some how so well suited to Black and white :o) I like your composition and choice of portrait orientation, they work well together and give a real depth to the image :o)
