Looks like an HDR image to me. Very cool shot with terrific PP. Well done & congratulations.

Congratulations, Charmayne. Heck, although you're doing nice things for New York and Brooklyn, you're showing us other NYers up. Darn it. ;-) Manhattan Beach is one of the nicest, is it not. I hear it is Russian Mafia these days.Message edited by author 2007-01-10 10:47:09.

Congratulations on a great shot and the blue, definately the best of the challenge.

Great shot, has a lot of mood. Never expected this to be in Brooklyn, though. Congrats on your blue!

Congrats! Much more original than moi. The shadows are particularly captivating.

The minute I saw that fence I knew it was a New yorker , way to go ! the lighting here is so natural and rays are seen throughout!

Look at you!!! Congratulations.

gorgeous! VERY VERY much deserved! looks a lot like the fence at the beach down the street from my house!

I had this one pegged as Bear and his tone mapping.

Beautiful shot, love the shadows and the sky. The compostion is sweet, the contrast is right on, the water in the background and clarity. Everything is right on. Awesome work. 10!!!

With all the lighting effects and textures going on. Beautiful in every way. 10.

I had given this an 8 but just came back for a second look and thought, "What was I thinking? This is definitely a 10!" What incredible light!...and your post-processing enhances the light so beautifully. What a wonderfully evocative image. I'm adding this to my favorites because I know I'll want to pull it out to look at it again from time to time.

Good idea and nice light. I wonder if it could be improved if the image were taken from a higher vantage.

I do not normally like fences and other things in the foreground, however, I think you have done a wonderful job of incorporating the fences into this image. They are an integral part of and make the subject that mutch more interesting. Very good job!

Really great shot, love the sky! :)

Wonderfully seen and I do very much like the processing - it has an almost watercolor/drawing quality to it. Quite a fine piece.

One of my top picks. Beautiful!

I really like this photograph. You've got a good combination of color and gloomy grey clouds. and light just seems to be coming from EVERYWHERE and going in every direction. There is light coming out of every facet of the clouds, reflected off the water and the sand and in all directions through the fence. Nicely done!

One of the best beach fences I've seen. Love the sky too. 9

what beautiful rays of light!

Very nice image. I love the colour and the dramatic sky here. My only gripe really is the composition. I find the layers of fences a little confusing to look at, perhaps you could have raised the point of view a little. Overall though, I think this is a fine image and really nice to look at. 7/10

awesome...love the shadows! great photograph and a perfect fit for the challenge...the fence really separates you completely from the water. It's like you are so close yet so far from getting to the edge of land!
