OK, I concede these aren't actually Turtle Doves, rather the more standard white variety... I spent some time at the park where the dove cote is. Initially I hoped to get some photos of two doves in flight, but wasn't really happy with the results. Once I spotted this entrance to the cote, with it's pock marked wood it was just a matter of positioning tripod and my feet in a large puddle of rainwater and mud and witing, and waiting, and waiting for the birds to cooperate with a balanced pose.

Wow, Gosh..... I was pleased with this photo, but never expected it to do this well. Thank you all for your congratulations and words of encouragement - I shall have to go and re-adjust my goals for 2007 now!

stunning shot ... great contrasts, excellent design certainly deserves a ribbon ...
coincidence ... i was actually looking at your turtle doves when you left comment on my triptych .. like within minutes or possibly seconds ..
I can only imagine what it took to get this shot. It's a wonderful capture. Great composition, exposure dead on, and it meets the challenge dead-on. On top of which, it's very enjoyable. 10
Great perspective, but wait a minute...the last photo had grey turtle doves...so DNMC. Just kidding. I think you may have a winner here. Very sharp, good job of not blowing the whites. 8.
