While not the most interesting composition of all the submissions, I've rated this image particularly highly based on its sheer technical brilliance: nice interplay of light and dark, excellent depth of field and sharp without having been brutally oversharpened in post-processing

Very nice - certainly outstanding among the flower shots (including mine =). The composition of the two flowers and petal is perfect, while the rich monotone compliments the rustic wood background.
