Thanks for everyone's comments. The bird is a Starling. I was trying to achieve a silhouette. Which I thought would make the shot look bleek and the bird alone and cold. But I still have lots to learn and it is nice to get so many comments to help me. Thanks again

I think this photo would have been better if the subject was off to the left side and giving the photo more contrast would have added the the 'harshness'. I get more of the feeling that the bird is a bird of prey than one that needs help surviving the winter.
Well not a bad shot at all, silhouette is good and all that but what I would want to suggest is the composition, way too centered for my taste and that little peg of branch in the lower right corner kindof steals my attention. 5
