The glare from the sun is the distraction, but it's definitely a harsh environment.

Not bad, I like the blue hue to the shot. A shame about the area around the sun though, since you have expert editing available to you and you have an static subject you really should have put a bit more effort in this shot and done a double or more exposures and made sure you had that area in check.

horizon is slightly tilted, sun is a bit too bright. good color

Doing this in blue I expect really improved this over the color original -- it's really cold and desolate. Effective!
