I adore this photograph...it has become among the most beautiful images captured in my mind's eye in 60 years of a Life that includes seeing the whole world. Thank you...much gratitude. I'm going to buy a print. Continued success with your photography. Little might you realize such Gifts can change the world with its beauty just as you've changed mine This is glorious! Namaste.
Good for you! You're right, great pics come when you least expect them. Not from sitting on the couch. I myself would've darkened the pic some to bring out the reds and oranges on the ground, and also to add a little green to the leaves on the trees. But what do I know, you won 1st place. Congrats!
Wow that is lovely. Looks like it could be a scene right out of Lord of the Rings. More than just another autumn shot and some leaves...it sets a tone and mood ready to tell a story.
Very beautiful. Congratulations!
(I am always amazed that someone can score an amazing capture like this low; they must have been voting with their eyes closed.)
Thanks you all for your appreciation and your encouraging words.
How I found it ? Well, sometimes you just get lucky. I was hunting for autumn pictures, walking around in a deerpark (got some lovely deer shots as well), which consists of some open fields and some more dense wood areas. Often too messy for a picture, with no clear structure to make a strong composition, until I got across this more open wood area with the light shining through the leaves and the branches overhead. I immediately saw the opportunity. I especially like the colors and the depth in this picture.
But it shows again : you only stumble across it, if you are out there, not if you stay at home !
see ratings 1, 2 and 3 for this image! This is a clear indication that we must weed out people.. Is this because they dont know what a good photograph is or is it just under rating only because they too have submitted an image in the challenge! I've seen so many under rating in this site!
Willem, many, many congrats. This is a most beautiful photo. Do share some info with us on the area and the species of tree you have presented here. They look very much like Beech trees.
I like this pic. It does have a few issues with the strong highlights on the trunks in the center grouping, but the light is what makes this photo. That and the way the branches from this tree stretch out across the frame. Quite lovely, and graceful.
I can see why one would choose this title. With a quietly rioting capture like this, I'd consider a more subtle one, perhaps, to leave much to the viewer (?). The latent message of this image strikes me as pervasively universal, one not requiring a messenger at all.
The gracious aspect, to me, is strongly emphasized by the branches draping so wide across what appers to be a plateau or bluff, which bowers an obscured roadway.
The light, too, is splendid. A great natural spectacle without flaw or articfice.
Great scene and composition of it.
Would do great as wallpaper on a real live wall. :)
Good exposure and colors, saturation is nice, wonder about how it looks when the saturation is pushed a bit further.
Lovely soft colours - IMO the Grace would have been stronger if the foreground was cropped close to the base of the first tree. As it is my eye keeps falling off the branches. 7
Wow!!!! Excellent shot!!!! Crisp, clean, and breath taking!!!!! I love the colors.
In a perfect world, I'd love to see the leaves in the top half of the pic in gold as well. But that's just me being picky! Beautiful shot.... seriously!
This is an ahhhhh picture for me. Colors are scrumptious and the canopy of limbs create the wonderful shadows. This is a great photo, peaceful, and pulls you in. 10
wow! I am stunningly stunned by this shot. great serenity, simply, naturally graceful. the graciousness is subtley suggested and this is what i personnally prefers.
I absolutely love colors here! The composition is extremely well done. Probably my favorite part of this picture is the lighting, very well done. My personal favorite so far.
This picture is absolutely perfect. I love the way the sun is coming through on the ground and trees. Perfect timing. A very peacefull, "gracefull" mood.
Beautiful colours and light. The curving shapes remind me very much of a forest I used to play in during childhood and even of a favourite photograph taken when I received my first SLR camera aged about 11 or 12. I wish I could find the negative! The dark line of the curved bows above and the foremost trunk at the left create a beautiful framing and the unbroken carpet of leaves feels very peaceful.
