Well I've done it now.....I swore I would never enter the Expert Challenge, maybe I never will again
The basic set-up
4 duplicate layers each processed differently with sections cut out and drop and inner shadow added for the frames.
Don't know how this is going to fare but I think it is cool, I really like the thumbnail!
After the fact..
Thanks so much for all the comments and as far as what I was trying to accomplish with the frames....well nothing really...I had an idea and with the rules the way they are I used it. I guess I will enter again :)

There's just something about this that I really love.
The creativity and how you made it all work together is great, and somehow can see this in a display, with each section being in a transparent glass pane, hanging by tiny wires, in a 3D display somewhere.
Congratulations John, I didn't comment during voting. However, I can tell you that you got my top score. I really like the uniqueness of your entry, not to mention the great job on photography and processing.
Well, I have seen arnitdo similar stuff but they work much better in my opinion cause all of them are with the same color tone and hue and no black and white inbetween, that´s what mostly bothers me with it, also the fact that some of the squares are not really squares at all but have an odd shape, this just seems so chaotic and poorly though out if you pardon me for saying so while his collages of pictures look more organized and well laid out. Not bad though but not good either, makes the image too busy for my taste and I voted a 5.
interesting effect, but it appears to be there for the sake of it, rather than contributing to the image in any real way. What was the purpose of the squares ?
May be allowed by the rules set but I'm not impressed. You've taken a basicaly boring shot and chopped it up into pieces. The impact is not the photograph but the processing. Sorry but I have to vote against the rule set...

Hi, Have voted 85% of the challenge so far. This is my second 10. I think the photograph is great, and an nice touch in spirit of the "Expert Editing".
If this is the kind of thing that's 'allowed' in Expert Editing, I'm all for it. This is just lovely. Subtle and because of that, it builds interest in the composition. 10 of course.
interesting...and nice. i think i would like the overlays to look like overlaying photographs instead of some of the different shapes that you made. good idea though... i might have to try it someday.
Nice PP, need a tutorial on that i think.
You've used it well, i think it works pretty well.
Need a great image to start with, obviously, and i can't help thinking it would have been more impressive without the framed segments.
