Crushed ice around subjects head. Took the shot with no flash outdoors on cloudy day. Made duplicate layer and desaturated that layer. Blended it with origional layer and adjusted levels. USM.

For some reason, I'm not really seeing much 'Harsh Environment' or any use of the expert editing option - I was hoping for more of that. But, your photo is totally cool...no pun intended there...I mean it!
Not bad, I like the low saturation of this shot and the effort behind it but I would have liked it a whole lot better if it weren´t so flat, contrast wise.
