 This shot didn't really need a whole lot of post editing. Most of the editing is light: Hue/sat., contrast, curves, levels, dodge, clone, flatten, image size, usm, black frame.
Photo was taken on "Mother's Beach" in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Yes, this may be over sharpened, but it has an artsy feel to it. I wonder what this would look like in b&w.

Looks like you pushed the contrast in the blue sky too far - hence it's blotchy. And the birds are oversharpened - hence the halos. Sorry, but those distract me quite a bit.
