 This is my girlfriend's cat Digit (so called due to his six toes on each paw). This is also my first entry here. Shot in manual mode with 580ex bounced off the ceiling. Tweaked exposure, shadows, brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpening, and white balance in Adobe Camera Raw, Orton effect in Photoshop, then USM (100, 1.5, 2) and levels.

6 - Despite the eyes closed, like the effect here, although perhaps a little more subtle to allow more detail to come through in Digit, may have made this even better in my opinion. Also, not so tightly cropped (especially bottom right), as well as perhaps a litlte more height at the top for added compositional balance, not sure. Overall has a nice feel to it, just the aforementioned issues.

The biggest problem for me is the soft focus and not being able to see the eyes. The bit of red is a little distracting.
