This is an image of my brother and a few mates helping a Pilot whale to keep its balance on the second day of strandings.
After whales have been lying stranded on there sides for a period of time they lose there bearings, once helped back into the water they need to be held upright for a few hours before they are released into the deep blue.

That is a heck of a photo. Not only is it very newsworthy and timely considering all the worries we have about the environment these days, but it is also nicely intimate.
This is a fantastic series of photos. I saw the entry in B&W and wondered the story behind it. It's interesting to see other photos that tell more of the story. What a strange (and bittersweet) situation.
