magnifique, quelle precision !

Just saw this. Timing, exposure, processing, definition and we can even see pelican's expression of concentration, or so I interpret. Totally raises the bar.

Precision really is the operative word here - just brilliant snapping.

Congrats on your first Blue Owen...go Aussies! Great score! Great idea to use a 100mm macro lens for this

I read most of the comments, and I'm surprised that no one has picked up on the fact you can't see the bill, I voted a ten, and just sead I thought it would be at the top, but I thought there would be some comments about the bill, bay be the initial wow factor takes over, and the nit piking goes out the window, I think it deserves to win, it's a great shot, well done.

Oh my gosh! I'm so excited this photo won the blue! And even more excited because I finally have enough money to get the camera I've been wanting--which happens to be the same camera that took this stunning image! Now I'm even more excited to get the 350D. Congrats, Owen. Like I said in my comment during the challenge, this photo has National Geographic written all over it. Woo Hoo!

Wow! Incredible capture - having spent many, many hours trying simply to capture a bird landing and finding it hard to even get it within the frame let alone in focus I absolutely take my hat off to you for this fantastic image!

Amazing photo! Congratulations!

Wow!!! I love the crisp clear picture, the blues of the water (congratz on the editing). the eyes, wings etc....

I'll probably be the one-thousandth person to say it, but...great timing! Congratulations on winning the blue ribbon.

The most amazing things to me here are the perfect timing (feet not quite in the water) and great clarity. Stunning shot. I love the tips of the wings.

Amazing shot with unbelievable timing! Really shows that with patience you do not need a super expensive 500 mm lens for bird shots.

The wing spread and spread feathers, so crisp, made this shot a winner for me. Bravo & Congrats!

Congrats on the blue!! Excellent shot!

This photo speaks to me ... and many others I presume. Capturing life in nature in such a way definitely helps humans appreciate a world of which we can only be envious and appreciate with our eyes -and in your case, camera.
Post actions
Congratulations on your well deserved ribbon, this was number 1 in my opinion. Glad the voters agreed.

Post actions
Wow! Who the hell gave this a four?
Post actions
That's a hell of a score histogram; no 1,2,3 votes, a single 4, 12 5's, and everything else stacked up virtually the same numbers :-) Never seen one quite like that. Congrats on your blue!
Post actions
Congratulations on your blue ribbon with this beautiful, beautiful image!

Post actions
Incredible photo! Very crisp, even with lower light.
Post actions
Awesome. It sort of makes you want to be able to fly, doesn't it. 1/1000 sec before touchdown. I don't know how you could have captured this. 10.
Post actions
I will be surprised if this doesent hit the top spot, excelent.
Post actions
The water is so devoid of texture that this looks like a 3D rendering rather than a photograph, but then I look at the bird's feather detail which is rendered so well. :-) What a striking image.
Post actions
Awesome timing! Incredible detail to go with it - very nice work!

Dang...nice detail on your bird. He almost looks like he's in a tux leading a symphony! You got the shot just as his foot was skimming or about to touch the surface of the water. Fabulous, imo.

The precision of this image is striking. Great DOF and image freezing to see the feather detail
