Yes, my equine model AGAIN! He couldn't resist this challenge... he'd, in fact, been waiting for it!
bribed with food to stand in front of the whitewashed cinderblock wall of his shelter after sunset. Converted from RAW, slight desat of yellow, layer with soft light gaussion blur, layers to dodge and burn (mostly dodge!), cloned out a few stubbon specks of dirt on the wall, USM, resize for DPC
Wow, double wow, and wowie and thanks and anything else I'm forgetting! I shot this in the last bit of light only a few hours before the start of the voting and almost didn't bother entering. Sooo glad I did! All I really wanted was to get a dang horse on MY front page.... being as I take so many pix of them. I'll certainly won't turn down a place on THE front page tho'. (...and I think the horse is a keeper too!)
Thanks for all the really great comments everyone!

I really like portions of this photo but it surprises me it placed so high with two focal points....the eyes and the ears. To me it would be far better to have croped out almost all of the ears, only showing a very small amount of color, none of the dark hole area. Try it and see what you think. Oh well, just my opinion...nice horse....congrats.
Can I get another whooo hooo! This shot just floors me. Such is the nobility of a horse, captured here in such brilliant beauty. This is why I love photography, the uncanny ability to capture emotion. Excellent comp. Words cannot express the exquisite nature of this photo IMO. Only the master of this beast could appreciate it more.
Way To go Cristy, beautiful image!!!! Your favorite model and you strike again. You may want to look at your comment after the challenge, I think you mean that you shot it a few hours before the "end" of the challenge LOL, the excitement got to you a bit.
I love this image. Great cropping. One of my picks for a ribbon. Congrats on placing in the top. Your portfolio has a lot of great horse images by the way.
I love horses too! This is beautiful! So dramatic and full of life and energy, while still seeming so soft and ethereal! Congratulations on your ribbon!
There are a number of grey horse entries to the challenge. This one is beautiful. I like the square crop. I like the leg intruding to the left, it makes for a sort of swirl like composition. Excellent entry. ~10
Oh my gosh this image is so wonderful. I love horses first off, so I adore almost anything to do with horses, but your image is special. I like the way you cropped the photo. This could be on a calender, imho.
