 New to photography I found this Challenge difficult as I had trouble with getting the focus right.

Just a touch overexposed to my eye. Well done with your cropping to follow the rule of thirds.

I definately get the "Light on White" idea, but the light meter focused on the flame and threw everything else down a stop. HDR might have helped here.
