Thanks everyone for their votes and comments. I'm super excited and i'm sure my niece Taryn, will be as well. "Thanks Taryn, you were perfect."
Had time to kill while visting family over the Thanksgiving break, and I had a willing subject...So, here we are!
Light was a large sliding glass door on her right, a silver disc reflecter below and to her left, and a bounce flash from a high ceiling. I'm pretty pumped about having a portrait in my top 5(i've been feeling quite one dimensional) and the Blue exceeded my expections!
Thanks all!

I should have added, I like the way her sweater blends in with the background at the bottom of the frame. You obviously could have seperated the two more, by that I mean the picture shows you have the skills to do so, but I like your choice of blending.
A facinating picture, perfectly executed. I love this. The matching shades of white in hat, sweater and gloves is perfect. Brings out the color and tones of her face, and especially her eyes.
Time to kill? Looks like you took alot of time to plan this out(in a studio). Being that it is such a nice and detailed shot. I guess sometimes the stars just line up perfectly like you want them to. As well as your talent and a lovely niece. Great work!
I have to admit that I keep coming back to look at this shot -- it's super deserving of the blue! I can almost hear a Christmas carol being sung when I look at it -- it just feels like at any moment, the background will be filled with Dickens characters, or something :)
This young lady has a rare & exquisite beauty at her tender age! The wonderful tonality between eyes and Christmas ornament highlights this fact with finesse & strong persona! You are most blessed to be part of such a unique & splendid portrait! :)
Congratulations to a World-Class photographer! Much success to a model with apparent promise! :)
I had told my husband about this shot saying it was one of the best portraits I'd seen here....it really stands out and the ornament was a perfect holiday idea. Good job and congratulations.
The thing I loved about this was the way the eyes matched the ornament. That and it's simply an exquisite and well-done portrait - the softness is just right for this. Congrats on the blue! Now print this up nice and big and give it to your niece.
I am sooo not surprised to see this one in 1st place! What an amazing photo! Congratulations! This couldn't be any more beautiful! I have a feeling this photo will survive the ages and be treasured for years and years to come!
I'm so glad that others liked this image as well. I didn't get a chance to vote but looked through the thumbnails several times and was repeatedly drawn to this one. It's even more breathtaking full size. I hope you're making Christmas cards! Congrats on the ribbon.
Ohmy!!! What gorgeous, innocent, haunting eyes! This is so beautiful! I can't even tell you how much I love this photo. And this is the kind of photo that is completely ageless -- it will be beautiful and treasured long, long after this challenge is over. Congratulations on such a striking capture! 10
Wow... this is just my second image vote this time around, and already I'm handing out a 10! Just a fantastic shot. She should be a model for a Christmas ad of some sort!
There's really so much to like about this image! Love the handling of the light such that the texture of the white fabrics is "there" and distinct from the background. The color of the ornament helps draw attention to those lovely eyes. The skin tones are subtle and beautifully rendered. This is not just another "family photo"...it makes me want to know this child...it is as if I have just asked her a question and she is about to give me the answer. Soft and pretty! The gloves are too large for her hands, I feel, but with everything else going for it, that can be "excused" because all other intentions are so well met. Well done!
here's a photographic stunner ...... love the little girls face and the way she's holding the 'ball'... love the gloves and the hat ... and clear, beautiful and expressive EYES ....... =9
