Man this new screen urging you to leave comments for low votes is a pain. Basically, to me, this shot does not say any particular year to me. The lighting seems a little 'off' and the overall image has a bit of a hazy look to it. This is just my opinion.

Your black/white point seem off just a little.(blacks dont appear true black) or it might be just a lack of contrast. I appreciate your layout though.

Are you going for the year "under God" was added? Hard to tell. Maybe if the pledge card was sticking out from under a closed bible with "BIBLE" embossed on the front. Of course, disregard that comment if I totally missed the point here ;-)
