 I've been playing with this idea in my head all week and finally got around to shooting it at the last minute. I took over 100 shots from different angles, different candles and different overhead lighting to no additional lighting.

This picture has been resized, cropped and slightly sharpened, nothing else done.

The candle seems very over exposed and the rose appears pixelated. It almost looks like photoshop effects have been added to it. Compositionally it is fine, and the folds in the fabric are a nice touch.

Hm.. I'm not sure why, but the rose looks digitized or pixelly to me, maybe its the focus or the lighting. I like the concept of the piece (as gathered by the title) but I don't think I'm following how the image portrays what the title says. Maybe its because the light source is in the photo and so I can't visually grasp how it is faded. I think just having the soft glow of the candle light on the rose all on a black background might have been interesting to try. I do like the choice in lighting, candlelight and roses always go great together in my opinion. 5
