Great photo! My Voting comment was somewhat abbreviated - sorry! I meant it as a compliment, an emotional response to your striking image! Congratulations!
my tarantula molted on the 2nd night of the challange, but he (she?) did it while i was sleeping - i RANTed about about the "missed opportunity" here - glad you won - proved my idea was a good one
I'd like to see a further discussion on this. I have posted in the following forum here (don't know if the link will work... it's in the Challenge Results forum though).
i had this idea! well, sort of... I thought doing an empty shell would have been great for the "something old" challenge. but, of course, i got the idea after the challenge was over. this is even better for something new. great shot, very well done. ~mcmurma Aesthetics...10 Meets Challenge...10 Overall...10
What an incredible shot. The wing is.....so pure....It's toobad the background is so much like the color of the ?bug? I know you had no control of that but is just detracts from the subject. =7 syamjonimi
Magic – possible winner… Composition is outstanding, use of macro is outstanding the DOF is perfection and the content is stunning. Could have been cut out of 'National Geographic' and it meets the challenge with aplomb… Easy 10++… Good luck, if this doesn't appear right up there with the best I'll be very surprised.
UGGGH!! Now THAT's a face only a mother could love!! What sort of creature IS this? Okay- I'm back in control (I don't do insects!) Nice execution!: DOF, clarity, focus, transparency in the wings, setting, angle.... (okay, still UGGH... sorry.) Don't worry, my personal aversion does not affect my scoring! ;-) Definately meets the challenge. (okay... next picture!) ;-)
Holy moly! This is so disgusting! ;) I'm truthfully teasing because I hate insects, but this is just such an amazing shot that I give it a 10! Wow! Awesome composition, awesome focus, amazing detail, fits the challenge perfectly! Gross! ;) Nice catch!
I really like him. I am just very impressed that he's standing there next to a shed skin. The only way I could have pulled this off is to use one of the unfortunate ones that you find in the road that's been hit by a car. I can never seem to get pics of bugs cause they all fly away, so I have an appreciation for people who can get pics of them. Congrats and good luck.
Nice macro! loks a little bit staged with the old and the new right next to each other, but perhaps you couldn't get a different angle, lucky find! 9 sulamk
Very impressive photography! How did you ever find this? Please tell me you a) found the pupi casing and b) knew it would open so many hours/days later! If I had any kind of suggestion, it would swing to the left a few degrees to show more of the pupi casing, but it's still a 10 by my standards! Swash
Fantastic, the sort of photo I'd love to take. There are so many good images on this site but not alot I'd hang on my wall but this is one of them. Well Done!
This definitely meets the challenge and gets a '10' for effort on the part of the photographer and also for stepping outside of the 'cliche' box. Nice job.
that is so cool! how did u manage to get the bug right next to his old skin??? too bad you couldnt have gotten them on a different surface, it seems to blend in with the buggies...cool tho.
