In honor of Veterans Day, November 11, 2006 in the U.S. This gentlemen served in WWII, and his friend lost her husband in WWII. They had been invited to the White House in honor of WWII, and they were visiting the WWII Memorial. Levels adjustment in PSE 4.
Post Challenge: I was not planning to enter this challenge, but I met these people at the WWII Memorial and it was a spur of the moment decision to take the photo to send to them and to enter it into the challenge. I knew there were technical problems with the photo - it looks like a snapshot, which it was, but entering it to the challenge was just something I wanted to do. I wasn't expecting a high score, and it did not do it for the score. Thank you for receiving the entry in the spirit that it was entered, and for the suggestions on improving if the opportunity presents itself again.

I don't think this was a disservice. I think the idea to honor the veterans comes across in this image. Even though it isn't a technically great photo I admire your message and I applaud your sharing the photo with us.

You've really done a disservice to the subject with this photo. Subject needs to be sharper and perhaps a little brighter. You also have trees growing out of the womans head so a better framing before snapping the picture would have helped as well. I think putting the trees/sky completely in the background and then using fill flash would have moved this photo up a few notches.
