My wife and I are jugglers and have a couple of different derbys hanging around the house. When this challenge came up I had considered doing some sort of self portrait with this hat, but it is just a tiny bit too small (see my wifes entry). Aidan was the next logical choice. We did two sessions - one on the back porch with a white sheet up against the wall on a cloudy afternoon. UNfortunately I didnt clean the hair and crud off the felt and since this wasnt advanced editing I couldnt clean up the hat in post process. So we did a second round of shots out in front of our garage in the shade as the sun was out and shadows were brutal. I took a ton of pics and Aidan was amazingly helpful. I got quite a few shots that I am really pleased to have outside of any challenge. In fact I made a triptych of some of them and placed my first order on DPCPrints. One for me and one for my dads bowling alley. Hopefully the prints are here before the challenge is over. Aidans face is a bit soft on the focus - a higher aperture probably would have fixed it, but the hat seems sharp and I am very pleased with the image. I am hoping for a solid 6 - but in the end I dont really care on this one - this pic is for me.
Post processing - shadow/highlight contrast adjustments, saturation, sharpness, noise reduction in RAW. In PS - levels, contrast, saturation, selective color adjustments, USM, NI, crop, resize for web, one more USM.
