Seems more like a person in a landscape, than a landscape orientation portrait. Lovely location though and the kayak is a great compliment to those colours. Very centered and far away though.

That's "dancing around the edges" of meeting the challenge! (I should know! I'm good at that!) Mostly landscape with a token person in the boat, but it is some sweet landscape at that!
Back to comment: Hard to count this as a portrait but since there is a person in it, I'll give you the minimum passing grade. As for the image itself, it could use a bit of sharpening to bring out the details and just a bit more pop to the colors via post processing with levels or curves.
