Northern Flicker at my feeder.

Thank you everyone for the votes and comments. I get Northern Flickers a lot in my garden even though I live in the middle of the city. I loved the way the autumn cherry trees gave this flicker a nice background.

October 2006? :-) I picked this immediately out of your 'Selected Portfolio Photographs' lineup!
I can see now that I gave this a pretty high mark back when it was posted as a challenge entry, and understandably so. :-) The background really makes this stand out, and the sharply focused bird doesn't hurt at all either. He-he.
Nice lineup choice (and you have tons to choose from!).
Very cool placement of the bird with the frame, works so well with him looking back into it. The blurred backdrop is a very nice match of color and pop.
That's a Northern Flicker Woodpecker, one of the bigger kinds of peckers. Really nice capture with the nice OOF background. Shot could've used a little Unsharp Mask at settings , Amount:29, Radius:16.9, Threshold:6
