Geez this one was tough, when I actually found some I was overwhelmed which one to do. Seeing as I had one day left and I would be at work this seemed the easiest. Not easy finding red licorice in the shops though but finally did.

Good idea, but a somewhat difficult subject. My guess is that your light is too hard, consider softer light, e.g., using a reflector/diffuser, and more DOF.
But it IS red. Isn't there red licorice and black licorice? Sorry for missing the oxymoron here. Guess I'll have to look it up... This is an interesting subject to use for an image and has much potential. The diagonal lines are great, the lighting is a little harsh, and overall it could be sharper (better focused). Good luck in the challenge.
