Yes, this would have been great in portrait orientation. And you just need to dodge (or burn, I can never remember which) to bring out the detail of his eyes.

I wish I could see the top of his helmet and the bottom of his feet.
I love his pose, the helmet crooked on his head and the way he was holding the football. I also like the B and W.
