This is a beautiful photo. I rated it very high. The only thing that keeps drawing my attention is that the date on the certificate and the date on the shoe don't match. Then I just tell myself. Of course, they bought the shoe before the baby was born. You could almost enter the same photo in the "something new" contest, only switching, of course, the style of shoe to modern and with a new birth certificate. Just a funny observation. Good luck.
Nicely done! The composition is great. I like your use of DOF here - I don't think there is a need to see everything focused. One small thing, I wish there was just a tad more light on the shoe. A job well done!! 8 Ruthann
Very cool picture. I am assuming you wanted the shoe and foreground as the only focal points, but I want more. The shoe seems on the dark side. I wish I could read the document title. 8 Swash
Very nice. Great subjects, the bootie was a nice touch. Good detail, but I think the DOF should have been set to grab the whole certificate. The unfocused area is a little distracting. Just a personal opinion.
thank you for filling the frame with oldness, not just the object. The birth certificate looks to be 75 years old, so probably not yours? The framing really begs for the other bootie to be in the picture next to it, but overall a great picture
Excellent DoF. Overall the picture seems a tiny bit dark. Not clear to me how the shoe relates to the document. This is perhaps something a brit like me wouldn't recognise.
The birth certificate seems to distract from the image. I think this is because text automatically demands to be read first. Its like those TVs in bars, you dont want to view the Oklahoma all-state cherry spitting semi-final, but your eyes get dragged away from the pretty girl you are trying to date to watch some bearded bloke honking across a field.
Excellent storytelling. Technically a very good exposure with good use of DOF. My only nitpick would be to have a softer lighting to reduce the shadows along the bottom of the booty. Nonetheless, very good!
Something old. Use your photographic technique to emphasize the age of your subject. Composition - quite good Technical Aspects - quite good Meets Challenge - yes Visual Impact / Originality - high Makes me want to hear the story.
Well composed shot with great detail and DOF. I find the small angle of the certificate a little disturbing though. I'd prefer a much stronger angle, either parallel to the shoe or -probably even better- square to the angle of the shoe. That's just my personal taste though :)
