I like the repeated patterns in the two subjects. To tidy this up, I would have removed the mesh from the bottom right corner (assuming that's allowed in the rules!)

My only objection: The bottom right corner (and tiny bit in the bottom left). It would have been better if you had tiles there too...
Maybe a little more contrast too - but that's a minor detail. I'll still give you and 8...
this is nice and clean, plain and simple. but i would have converted to b/w, as silly as that sounds. i can still see some colour changes, like the bit off to the far right. 7.
Great idea! Meets the challege sooo much, especially regarding that the link between the two is definately photographic. Tiles looks like they are real size, but ball like it is a miniature! Bump up to 9.
You should be top 10, maybe even ribbon, good luck and patience ...
