Great shot! Pity it was a Free Study, though. A topic like Pet Portrait would have resulted in a much more reasonable 6.5+ score.

I agree with the others and was one of the 4 that gave this a 10. This is a house cat capture with the dignity and power of a big cat. The mossy ground with the colored mushrooms give it a fantasy feel.

agreed, great expression and interesting setting, the tight crop works great. Lovely subject.

Meant to comment on this during the challenge, somehow didn't get back to it. Just wanted to say I LOVE the expression and essence of this cat you've captured here. The background works very well and the eyes are perfect! Technicals all handled adeptly. Great job and an image to be proud of.

9 - Up from 8. Really like this. Like the little toadstool/mushroom elements too. The pose/expression is very good. Colors also very nice. Just wish it were 720. Perhaps a more finely tuned crop at the bottom, but minor.

there's something so Tolkien about this. I think the cat just ate a faerie. 10

Great lighting and focus in this photo which I imagine was not easy to achieve since the cat is actually walking.

Wow. What a powerful expression this cat's face. I love the focus of the face and the blur of the tail. Wonderful overall expression and composition.

Great use of DOF in this one. I never really never thought of DOF giving a sense of motion, but with the extended leg it really does here. Great job!

Nicely shot, good focus to the eyes, well chosen DOF.
