I've wanted to do this type of shot since I saw what KarenNfld did in the previous abstract macro challenge. It's a macro of a CD put in the microwave for 5 seconds.
I tried to get clean, vivid colors in this version. Light used was the ceiling fluorescent above left, and a penlight to get the white spot.

Congrats on your top 20 finish! And for those who say it isn't original, mine wasn't either, I got the idea from aaronb532. And let's face it, 90% of the images on this site aren't original, but it's the way they are photographed and presented that make them original and the photographer's vision. To vote something low because it lacks originality is a poor way to vote, IMO.
Well said. I tried to make mine a bit different; hopefully I did. I have no plans to do this again, but if somebody else does I can't wait to see their own twist on it!

microwave on CD bite from last challenge........ sorry but not so interesting......definitely not original ......edit..........I must have been in a real poor mood when I initally wrote that......not so constructive........colors are interesting as is specific geometry though I still find it busy.......6
I expected to see more of these this time around. I even tried it myself, but didn't submit one. You did a nice job of keeping the gradient smooth through the color transitions. Nice work.
