 I took this picture at my garden, the sun was going down faster that day and the only light I had was my Nikon D50 built-in flash. I tried to get the most texture I could from this little flower to show the dark 'veins'.

Consider moving subject or cropping so that the focal point isn't so centered. (Rule of thirds.)

Wierd - the longer you look at it, the darker the center of the flower becomes.
