Noticing fishing nets on numerous homes in Lerwick, we presumed that a net on the front fence might mean a loved one is fishing at sea!
Towards the end of the day, we asked in a local shop - to which no one knew of what we spoke!
After a long pause, the local said, "Oh! Those are provided by the city to keep the gulls out of the rubbish bins!"
"Hmmm", we said. "You may want to change that story to the more romantic! Just a thought..." :)
