Taken on the border of Botetourt and Rockbridge Counties, between Buchanan and Lexington, VA.
PP included straighten horizon, levels/curves, NI, semi-transparent layer of gradient color on sky, change hue, dodge/burn brush, blend/clone brush to clean up a few spots on the tree, add border, save for Web.

great score but this should of got a higher placing. I really think this offset composition and sillouette of tree make a nice addition to that rich sky. Nice job and im sorry the DPC mafia did not lobby for you here.
criticism:
-tree takes up slightly too little space for my tastes. cropping a bit from the top and left would have been okay.
-black border creates a very high-contrast area on the edges of the photo. this is bad, because contrast draws the eye, and so i find myself looking more to the edge than to the tree. notice that the magenta/black in the upper left has higher contrast than the lavender/black around the tree.
