Taken originally in colour, but converted into grey scale for better effect.
People have asked me how I achieved such a black background. I had a black board behind, leaning against the coffee table. It took a while for her to fall asleep with the board directly behind her.
Then in Photoshop, I played with levels and contrast until no visible pixels of the board were present, without blowing out the hightlights.

Thank you everyone for commenting and voting. I was very pleased with the 18th finish, as this is a dog shot and I know that majority of DPC doesn't like images of pets. I just wanted to proove to them, that if done the right way, the photos can be actually quite good.
Excellent lighting. The black background is perfect to highlight the white fur.
The textures in the blanket and the softness of the fur is a good combination.
The best doggy shot of the lot. LOVE the contrast between dog, pantleg and background. I also like the fact that you have lots of fur detail in this shot. One of my favourites. How did you get such awesome contrast between well light dog and midnight black background?
Focus is awesome. Beautiful details. You can almost feel the texture of the denim jeans and the furriness of the dog. The contrast really helps to bring the subject alive.
Would make for a great post or greeting card. Great shot. "10"
The contrast is fantastic and of course, the subject is darling. I also like the texture difference between the fur and what looks like denim. Nice job!
