More of a closeup on the bud would have improved this shot - a tad cluttered as it is now.

Great touch of color in the flower really helps to add interst to the shot. Lighting makes the flower pop[ out of the shot. Really good details in the leaves.

It's hard to tell what the subject is because there is too much other stuff around which dominates the subject (which is supposed to be the bud).

With the lighting vs. shadows and the bud being so small compared to the leaves and flower, your subject gets lost in the image. I found myself looking all over the photo to find the bud.

the full blown flower takes the eye away from the bud - either going in closer to the bud or different cropping would have helped
