Went to St Kilda again to take photos before going to a party, and i was hoping to get there just before sunset, and paparazzi a couple on the peer with the sunset in the background, as it was a perfect day with clouds, and a nice gap just above the horizon so there'd be colour. Unfortunately i have a habit of being late, and it kicked in perfectly :P I got their basically just after the sun went down, and there were no nice afterglow :( ... Since i was there, i took a few photos, and tried to get some boats, knowing they'd require heavy PP later. Ended up getting my friend to hop down onto the beach as well for a photo, just in case... going through all the shots, i thought this was the best, so I entered :).
Shot taken @ 55mm. Biggest thing i've learnt from this challenge is using the HSL adjustment layer to full effect. Turns out you can select colour ranges quite accurately and selectively alter those (i thought better than selective colour itself!). Unfortunately because of the heavy PP, noise is quite an issue in the fullsize pic. Also learnt about "hyperfocal" length
PP
- raw w/no change
- NN quite heavy
- HSL - selectively bringing down saturation of his shirt
- curves - finished off the silouhetting effect nicely, and brought back some contrast to rest of image
- HSL - this time in colorize mode to add sepia image
- smart sharpen
- DPC resize
