Another shot of my faviorite subject, my daily ride to work, a MD500 helicopter. This is a shot of the chopper descending in hover to a helipad carved deep into the old growth forest of the pacific northwest.
The only pp I applied was free transform in CS2.
Post-challenge:
Well, I guess that goes to show how much I know...and I thought this was a good photo. I just wish Id received more feedback for all the low scores this was given, its very frustrating to see a photo you think is good getting hammered by the voters for no apparent reason.
Anyway, I know what I think is good about this photo. What do you see that makes it subpar?

I will refer back to my number one reason to rate a photo highly...interest. Photos are there to communicate and entertain first and foremost.
Beyond some cloud formations of some interest there really isn't anything there that draws me in to look for more. The only technical nit pick is that it doesn't feel so much like a silhouette as it does an underexposed shot of the bottom of a helicopter.
But..that is just one persons opinion. I hope it gave you some insight to my score.
This is a really nice shot.
The clouds above give the effect of being blown around by the helicopter's "wash", as if they are a very direct, and very involved piece of the whole.
An illusion of course, but a good one.
Good luck!
