Soft focus is designed to leave important details clearly evident, but to soften context and unimportant details. I can see what you're going for here and I like the idea, but it's realy more an exercise is shallow DOF than soft focus. IMO, you haven't really met the challenge.
Such a shame the lady in the blue dress is standing in front of the couple, without her this would be even better. There is possibly a little too much 'blur' on the guests faces but that just adds focus on to the couple :o)
