 Curves, USM, Contrast, Levels, cloned out a distracting specular highlight.

No out-of-camera noise removal software used. I don't think it really needed it. I was afraid of losing too much detail from the sand/feather on the beach.

Back lit feather on the beach. Taken while Zoomdak and I were rooting around before dinner. The Oregon GTG had happened earlier that day in the Portland Zoo, and yet I thought that this shot was better than any taken there. How ironic.

Beautiful colors, LOVELY lighting. The silver and the blue together are fantastic, and the tones are superb.

This is one of those that really strikes a chord with me and I haven't the faintest idea why - maybe the color combination - black, blue, gray and white - or the simple elegance of it - just can't say. But I do indeed really, really like it.

Good detail on the feather but I think either a bit more contrast or a completely plain background would have improved this.

I have a picture very similar to this, I love the idea, but you version needs to be cropped in closer to show more detail
