My wife said I wasn't clear enough with my intentions for this photo...
I'm not really into sports, and was making an artistic comment on the vacuous nature of these guys posing by the beach playing volleyball. That's why I called them airheads in the title... there's nothing going on in their heads! By removing their heads and the ball, I was making a comment on how I saw them. Obviously this photo wasn't for everyone, but I still stand by it.

I really can't comment on this because I think the image has errored in upload or something. If it's meant to look like their faces and the ball are made of a graduated tone, then I have to say that it's a gross error of judgement instead. On what I see (and I've screen-grabbed it just in case)- I have to vote this 1. Sorry.
I'm not sure how you achieved this in camera but i don't really like what happened to it. I just don't really find this to be an amusing, or attractive photo, and it just doesn't look good to me. This might have had the makings of a good sports photo if you didn't have the weird things on it. Sorry.
the aftereffect really doesn't add anything to this. it would have been a neat volleyball shot without it, especially with the ball on top of the net like that. but now it's just strange.
Well, I gotta admit this is... different! I'm not sure I get the point of it, in all honesty though. I'm also curious to know how this was done legally.
