So the spectators look real, why does the subject look like pixelated plastic? Low lighting really took it's toll with this image. Or poor post-processing? |

I think this could have been a real good image if taken from a lower perspective and more zoomed in on her (I know that is not always possible). All the people and clutter in the background detract from the image. |

nice idea, but really needs work. it's way too soft and way too muted. not really sure what to make of the coloration, except to say it doesn't really grab me. |

Cute. Wish it wasn't so grainy. Did you use a high ISO setting or something to use the natural lighting? Future Olympian? ;^) |

Let me preface by saying that I know the lighting in these gymnastics clubs tends to be uniformly horrible and beyond the photographer's control. That said, the composition with her rolling towards the tube is nice, but the image just looks too overprocessed because of all the noise reduction applied either in camera or in post proccessing. The apparent high ISO has also resulted in a very desaturated image with odd colors. Since the colors are already so muted, I'd suggest trying this as a B&W and maybe even leaving some of the noise to simulate film grain and allow some detail to be retained. Finally, some of the bright white shirts in the background should be darkened by burning them in in post processing to keep them from distracting the eye from the main subject of the gymnast. |
