Instead I had a setup that consisted of a bowl of salt, the back of a book and two marbles. I'd read the review of this photo and really wanted to give it a go.
This image is of 2 marbles dropped at the same time, the one on the right is in the salt, whilst the one of the left is just about to make the salt explode.
When I'd been looking around on the web on the subject of high speed flash photography, I stumbled across a university website with a number of stop action images. All with complicated circuitry to trigger the shutter.
Instead my amateurish attempt was
1) Set the focus on the camera and then set to manual so it wouldn't re-focus (the camera was on a tripod)
2) Turn off the lights
3) Release the shutter on a 2sec exposure
4) Manu said now and dropped the marble
5) I fired a metz flash at the salt from the back right and tried to time it as the marble hit the salt
6) Repeat 71 times
PP - RAW (exposure, shadow etc), USM in photoshop, cloned out a bit of offputting salt dust, resize.
I fear that the image might not meet the challenge perfectly and will therefore lose marks. Fingers crossed!

For some reason, from the thumbnail view, I thought the sphere was a bullet point. Now, as to how you did this...hmmm. Double exposure? Will be interested to see in your comments. You did list comments didn't you? ;^)
Very creative. Nice stopped motion. Should do well with this. I'd say "Good luck", but I don't think you need it. He-he.
