it's funny- I find this photo perfect in every way- just not zen! I mean- I didn't vote and probably would have voted it high anyway, but wow!!! The composition spells explosion to me! Absolute energy and look at that face- just exploration on his little mind. I LOVE it!!!
I guess it was so much easier for me to think of this as Zen. Picture yourself walking through this really nice, huge garden. And it's nearly silent except for a gentle breeze and trickling water from a nearby fountain. (a Japanese fountain seen in outtake #2......) Then while walking you see this little guy's sihlouette slowly creeping up that leaf and stop juuuust right so as to only peek his head over. Given the surroundings I was in at the time and the feel of the moment, it seemed pure Zen to me.

this is great... i'd like to think it's in the 'wild'... but it's probably in an aquarium? :-)
nope, no aquarium...i was at a public garden here in town...he was just wandering around the cannas and i just got lucky that he popped up while i was walking by.
sweet!...thanks to everybody that voted and commented...this was my highest finish in the year i've been a member here...i just got my highest rated photo in the Flowers challenge and now this topped it by far...hopefully the scores will keep going up.
I love how this presented itself on my screen. Just as I was saying, "oh great, another feather picture", the little guy showed up! His head could be a little sharper, but you still get an 8 for his sweet little shadow toes and the surprise factor.
I've already voted, just commenting now.
Great image...the sort of thing I`d expect to see as a poster.
I like the way the leaves divide the picture and the shallow DOF works very well in contrast with the sharpness of the subject.
This should do very well...good luck.
This is so totally Geico...er, sorry, you're probably sick of hearing that by now. Great photo though, you did a great job of getting him to stand out in the sea of leaves. Very nice!
