Taken just as the sun was rising on a very foggy day just before swimmers (including me) boarded the boat to Alcatraz from which they were swimming back from.

The red (orange??) hat breaks this up nicely and is well positioned in the frame. A little more detail and fill light on the competitors would have helped. DoF keeps the interest where it should be.
I can't really feel the anticipation myself. To me it's just the back of people's heads, with a distracting boat. Maybe a different angle might have shown it better?
